Spring at Oakcroft
Well spring has finally arrived , the bullocks have been turned out again ( - we put them out in that lovely dry March weather and then had to get them in again when the rains retuned) and the sheep have nearly finished lambing. We used the black Zwartble ram on the old white ewes and a brown Romney on the young black Zwartble cross hoggs so we have a lovely mixture of black sheep with white, black or black & white lambs and white sheep with black lambs! So far only one bottle lamb (sweet black lamb - any one want him?)
The goslings are ordered for later this month and the turkey poults ordered in January should be here in May so who is going to be the first to order their Christmas Dinner?
For a cosy bedside mat how about an Oakcroft Large Sheepskin? Available in varying shades of black and brown at £60.00 each. If you would like to see one please contact us and we can bring a sample to the market.
Also if there are any spinners out there looking for raw fleeces (Border Leicester/ Jacob / Zwartble ) contact us and we can tell you when we are shearing (usually late May or early June) any fleeces not spoken for will probably be composted!
(some of our home-made pies and pasties which we sell at Markets and Shows)
