Our gourmet chicken, duck and guinea fowl are reared on the farm all year round, bred from traditional slow-growing strains which results in a hugely improved flavour and succulence. It also means that they have a more natural lifestyle than commercially grown poultry - our poultry are active and inquisitive, and love to roam anywhere and everywhere!
We have our own small herd of rare-breed Saddleback pigs, a traditional slow-growing breed now increasingly popular with the more discerning customer. Our pigs are free range and enjoy living out in the fields, with specially designed pig-arks provided for sleeping in.
Lamb & Mutton
Our flock, begun 20 years ago from just five ewes, is now a mixed flock of Border Leicester crossed Zwartbles sheep, all bred on farm from our ewes and specially chosen pedigree rams. Our sheep are free ranging and are fed on a diet of grass, locally grown hay and feed specially mixed on the farm from local crops. Both the Border Leicester and Zwartbles are slower-maturing, traditional breeds, which results in an incredibly flavoursome and tender finished product.
Our herd of native-breed cattle is farmed in the traditional manner, free ranging over the fields and fed only on grass and our own specially mixed feed made from local crops. The beef is allowed to mature in the chiller for a minimum of 28 days before being cut up by us into top quality steaks and joints. This refrigerated maturation process results in a hugely improved flavour and tenderness and is highly recommended by all beef connoisseurs, and of course our customers!
Our traditional style pasties, pies and sausage rolls are all hand made by us, using our own special recipes and of course containing only our own top quality meats. They are baked on the day of sale, so that you can be assured that you are buying the freshest and tastiest baked goods available!
We also sell feathered game in season, sourced from local shoots and prepared by ourselves.
